Walking into an Alabama medical dispensary for the first time can feel like a lot, especially when you are still getting comfortable with the state’s medical cannabis program

At Callie’s Apothecary, we built our process around one goal: making sure every registered patient and caregiver feels informed, respected, and cared for. Below is exactly what to expect, step by step, so first-time visiting Alabama dispensary patients know what to bring and what happens once they walk through our door.

Step 1: Have Your Medical ID Ready

Before you can enter the store, we need to verify your medical cannabis in Alabama patient status. Your card can be physical or digital. A printed copy works just fine, or you can pull it up through the AMCC Patient Portal on a charged smart device. Having this ready before you arrive keeps your first visit moving smoothly and respects the privacy of every patient.

Step 2: Check In with Security

Once you arrive, our security team will ask to see your medical ID to let you into the building, and your driver’s license to check you in to our system. Only registered patients and caregivers are permitted inside the store, in keeping with Alabama’s regulations for medical cannabis access. If the lobby is busy, please have a seat in the vestibule. We would rather take the time to do this right than rush any part of your visit.

Step 3: Finalize Your Profile Details

Once you are on the sales floor, our team will finish setting up your patient profile. This includes reviewing your patient ID, recording your prescribing physician, and confirming a phone number and email so your loyalty account and online ordering profile sync correctly.

Step 4: Consult with Our Team

This is the heart of your visit. We will review your physician’s recommended route and daily dosage guidance, then talk through how to use the products you are considering and what a first experience might look like for you.

We always recommend starting low and going slow, and we cannot recommend a route that has not been approved by your physician, so please discuss available routes with your doctor ahead of time if you have questions.

Step 5: Complete Your First Purchase

Callie’s accepts cash and Dutchie Pay, and we have an ATM on site for convenience. We recommend Dutchie Pay when possible, since it helps you avoid extra transaction fees. Payment is simple and private, the same way the rest of your visit has been.

Step 6: Share Your Feedback

After you have had time with your products, we want to hear from you! Email us at info@shoppecalliesal.com and let us know how things are working. Your experience may even be featured on our site, with your permission. We also encourage you to share the same feedback with your physician, since that conversation is part of your ongoing care plan.

We hope this guide makes the process less daunting. Feel free to call us at 334-901-3394 with any questions. Our Montgomery location is open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, located at 5232 Atlanta Hwy. We look forward to seeing you!
