A Historic Step Forward: Callie’s Apothecary and the Opening of Medical Cannabis Access in Alabama

Callies Montgomery Logo

For registered patients and caregivers, the opening of Callie’s Apothecary in Montgomery marks a meaningful milestone in making the state’s regulated program a reality. And we’re so honored to be part of it!

As one of the first medical cannabis dispensaries in Alabama, we’ve focused every part of this opening on creating a calm, welcoming experience for qualified medical cannabis patients. Because this moment belongs to them as much as it does to us.

What This Moment Means for Alabama Patients

Qualified patients now have a licensed, regulated place to turn to once they’ve been approved for medical cannabis use by the state.

Alabama’s medical cannabis program is overseen by the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC). Patients must have a recommendation from a registered certifying physician and be entered into the AMCC patient registry before applying for a medical cannabis card. This process exists to keep medical cannabis access in Alabama regulated, documented, and limited to only those who qualify under state law. Safeguards we take seriously.

Who Can Access Medical Cannabis at Callie’s

Patients and their registered caregivers can visit our Montgomery medical cannabis dispensary once they’ve met the state’s legal requirements. Patients must be registered with the state and have a medical cannabis card before entering. Caregivers visiting on behalf of a registered patient should also bring any required caregiver documentation.

Our dispensary cannot determine if someone qualifies for the Alabama medical cannabis program. If you have questions about eligibility, talk with a certified and registered physician or visit the AMCC’s website.
